QUESTION: I have a friend who isn’t a believer. As an Agnostic she has to see it black or white and doesn’t comprehend my “blind faith” as she calls it. When I speak of how I feel we are living in the last days how do I explain that in a way she could understand? I get old school KJV and I just loose her.
ANSWER: I love your situation. You are on the front lines of the faith. My late grandmother used to say, “The only bible most people will read ~ is the one you live”. Her point? People will not care what you know ~ until they know that you care.
The more your friend experiences your authentic love for her and your authentic love for God ~ the more curious she will become.
Two insight things to consider. First; you are not introducing her to a “right belief system” ~ instead ~ instead you are simply introducing her to Jesus. Comment; “Jesus faced this and HE said _____” and let God’s Spirit take the truth and drive it home. I have found that most agnostics struggle with the concept of christianity ~ but are very open to the person of Jesus.
Second; as you face difficulties and struggles ~ you friend will see God’s peace and joy dominating your life (Galatians 5:22-23). This is priceless.
As to the “last days” concept ~ realize that as God grows her faith ~ she will be more open to discuss these verses. But she has to learn to crawl before she can run.
I love you and pray for you everyday. Pastor Shane
